Description
Most of my work is hand carved but the size and hardness of this beautifully shaped white birch burl was a perfect match for turning on a large lathe. I was able to core out the center on the lathe, hand carve away the rough outer layers, then finish it to a buttery smooth, wonderful to touch, finish. The variations in the grain in this piece are mesmerizing.
